Prominent German composer Johannes Brahms was born in Hamburg, Germany on May 7, 1833. He had composed most of his works during the romantic era. Later in his life, Brahms moved to Vienna, Austria. Brahm had inherited the taste for music from his father who was also a talented musician and could play number of instruments. Brahm’s father was responsible for teaching music to his son for the first time. At an young age of seven, he had started studying piano with Otto Friedrich Willibald Cossel. From the early years, musical talents were evident in Brahms.
Brahms received great popularity from his first show of Ein deutsches Requiem that was also his bigget choral work. It was presented in Bremen in 1868 and made Brahms one of the most successfull composers in Europe. Many believed that by being successful, Brahm had confirmed Schumann’s predictions. During his life time Schumann was a great admirer of Brahm. This success gave him further initiative to finish several other works that he had failed to complete so far. These works include cantata Rinaldo, his third piano quartet, his first string quartet and most popular of all his first symphony. His first symphony was released in 1876 after which the other three symphonies came out in 1877, 1883, and 1885.
